moika flat

As promised long ago...

Here's my new flat! I love it. Two blog readers have actually lived in this flat, which add to the hominess.

You walk in, and the room immediately to the right is a large living room that also has a dining table. Yes, you walk in and see the back of the couch. Yes, it's a huge, teal, ugly couch. But, it's also THE most comfortable couch on which you've ever sat. Really--it's a struggle to stay awake when you sit on this. And my feet don't reach the floor when I'm sitting here.

This is the kitchen. There is a large, open tiled space, sort of a central hub, off of which the bedrooms, bath and kitchen come. The door to (previously pictured) d2b's room is just to the right of the little table. Next to that is a little closet--housing my stacked US washer/dryer, then the bathroom, then another storage closet, and then my room.

And, here's my bedroom--with a little sitting area around a traditional (non-working) traditional fireplace. It's a cat magnet. Next to this room is the living room.

Wow - That flat looks so much more like you than the partially subterranean, tiny place you had last year. And what a wonderful place for Sasha to come home to! Plus, it's upstairs, so I bet the cats are loving that!

I love it so much.. love the windows, high ceiling and all that light coming in. It looks so spacious. I really like your kitchen & bedroom. Here in Ohio I lived in a really old apartment building that had floor to ceiling windows, high ceilings, hardwood floors and all those lovely details like glass doorknobs.

do those windows have screens? just curious since they open differently.

would you say that is a typical single Russian woman's flat or much more fancy & spacious than usual.

counting down the days with you

Are you the most fortunate person on earth? Or what? That is the most amazing apartment! And it has the bonus of being in Russia. Lucky you. And spacious. My gosh.

Of course I thought the one you thought was tiny and terrible was nice....so you see what my standards are.

Lauri, it's not typical for a single woman...or an extended family! Americans have been living in this flat for over a decade, so it's been Americanized. I have an American washer and dryer!

I feel a little embarrassed by my riches when I invite Russian friends over. I am so privileged to be living in this amazing place. My school is so good to me!

Ack! I have missed so much- I think there is a problem with my reader, but I think I have a new solution. Anyway. I will leave a lot of comments at once.
Yes, she will call herself Xan as a teen, probably want to spell it goofy too, Chyxainne maybe lol. But thats okay because it will match up with her blue and pink hair.
Ok, I actually like the crazy couch. I also collect Fiestaware, so take that FWIW. (different colored dishes)I love your new home, it is so light and airy and roomy looking.
I will try to think up some of my quickie receipes. Since I have a motto- no dinner should take longer to cook than it takes to eat. Lots of noodles, easy quick and bland. Dump spaghetti sauce on them, butter, cheese. Does Sasha have an aversion to flavors? Like, do strong flavors bother her? Genea, she can barely tolerate salt. We make sloppy joes with browned and drained ground beef and add premade barbeque sauce, slop it on bread, you can also add onion. I actually make up a whole mess of ground beef at a time then freeze it in little bags. Can you get tortillas? I fire open a can of black beans (lots of iron), refried or regular and melt cheese over it. So quick and easy!
Put some toast on the bottom of a casserole dish, mix up some eggs and milk and dump it over the toast. You can add canned chicken or whatever else you want. Frozen veggies, turkey, berries, anything. Put some spices on it. Put it in the oven until the egg is firmed up like an omlet, then its done.
Cooking a la Chez Accidental Mommy LOL!

I love your new flat....very luxurious! I can see d2d in the lounge, helping get a drink in the kitchen and (eventually) snuggling with you in your bed. I love it Kate, I see nice things happening in your new home.
