pix as touted

Here are some pictures from our production of Seussical. We had over 20% of our school population involved. With limited resources, a borrowed performance space, and a lot of enthusiasm we managed to pull off a good show.

I didn't take the action pictures as I was otherwise occupied but thought you might like to see some of them. I'll add more when they're available--the production shots are only from the last third of the play. I'd like you to see my little Whos in action, too! (Slide won't let me put in my own music...and, funnily enough, "Oh the Thinks You Can Think" wasn't one of their choices...)

As the ending of the curtain speech goes, "Sit back, relax and enjoy, Seussical!"

I love it and was singing along to what songs I know (been to this recently on field trip), so in TN, USA, you had music accompaniment...

Also, (and here is the dumbest thing I have ever said on ANYONE'S blog), for some odd reason I was struck - these kids look just like the kids in MY school here in TN! I mean, what did I think? Did I think they were going to look different because they are in Russia?

(Now, to your readers who are shaking your head at me - let me make it worse. Two of my kids are from Russia. And they look, well, like kids. Well, today they look like filthy kids, but that is another story altogether.)

No clue - I guess I am envisioning what I saw of Russia - the Baby Homes, etc. Silly.

After Katie's insightful comment, I thought you might like to know that in this cast, only one of these kiddos (the Cat) is Russian. Five are half Russian... (Gertrude, 2 bird girls, a monkey and a Who). Otherwise, we've got kids from Finland, Korea, Estonia, Holland, Israel, Sweden (Horton and Jojo are sisters from Sweden), Switzerland, Turkey, the US, the UK and...I'm sure I'm missing someone...

There's nothing quite like the feeling of doing something God made you to do, is there Kate? Your cast look like they had a blast. And I know that's because YOU had a good time.

Great job! Well done!

From the sheer joy on the faces of the actors, I'd say you have a smashing success on your hands. They are so cute, and they look like they are having so much fun - you must be so pleased after all your hard work!

What adorable looking children! And the show looks so good! Wish I could have been there.

Funny thing though, Katie - I actually can often "spot" a Russian now. Once across a crowded grocery store, my mind said - "that woman's Russian". That made no sense - but lo, and behold! I got over near her and she was talking Russian to her child! Then last week we were at a large mall in another city; I came up to the check out at Marshalls. I thought - "that woman looks Russian" and glanced at her name tag - "NADIA". Sure enough, I greated her in Russian and she responded likewise. I'm getting rather proud of myself. But I don't know how I do it! Sheer instinct.
