this is BIG

Well, it is to us. Or at least it is to me. She was unfazed and denied it even happened.

Today, during rest time (looking at books, playing with doll or magnets on bed) Lexi SLEPT.

This is the first time she's done this on her own. Usually, no matter how tired she is, she'll fight hard to stay awake--singing or reading louder and louder. If she naps these days, it's because I've decided that she is soooo tired that she has to "sleep a little" instead of resting. Sleep, big or little, means our usual books/talking/praying/rocking & singing.

The fact that she let herself sleep, all on her own, trusting that I'd be there when she woke up, is BIG!

Wow! You are right on, that really is a BIG thing. One of the problems in Genea's old family was she would cry at night, but would not go back to sleep if someone laid down with her. She would dissociate after a while, with her eyes open, but would not sleep. Awful way to live. It was about 6 months before she and I were laying on the couch together and she fell asleep. I think I even blogged it too!

That is so big..yeah Lexi

Livi would never let down and relax as I rocked her... it took months before she would even relax in my arms when I held her and was always ramped up to co-sleep. She finally fell asleep in front of me and I remember I was so excited.. I just watched her the entire time.

Oh yes, very, very big! It is amazing to see progress is such leaps and bounds! I have often said about Zachary that "Every day is something new with him!" This is the incredible part about parenting that you never fully get until you have a child of your own.

I guess I was not aware that children coming from orphanages have sleeping difficulties. Seeing that she's just been with you for 4 weeks, this is a big step for her. Way to go Lexi.

I'm surprised that she would nap as my daughter gave it up at 3 and my older granddaughter at 2.

Sure hope she keeps it up.
