almost there...

We are ready to go!

Okay, we're not packed.

But, we've made a book of photos that shows where we're going, where we're staying, who we're meeting and a thing or two that we'll do. (Some is not planned. Some is tentatively planned. And I don't want to have something in there and not do it.)

It ends with Mama and Lexi coming home together. (I think that's important. And, I also think it's important that we have plans together for after the trip. We will be riding the metro.)

The book is seventeen pages long. SEVENTEEN!

And, because it's us, okay, because it's me, our trip preparation includes singing...

I want to be in America
Lexi/Mama and me in America
Play in the sea in America
New friends to meet in America

The third line is variable. It includes: Pick blueberrIES in America, Cowboys singING in America, Going shopPING in America, Driving a car in America and whatever else pops into my head. Lexi's role, at this point, is the clapping. But I know when she thinks I'm not listening she'll be belting it out.

Seeing the Doc in Amer-ee-cah
Playing Dress up in Amer-ee-cah

Hey, have you seen our vid of Aud and Will dancing to this song??? I'm so excited I can't believe it.

You guys are so silly! You are perfectly suited for one another. Let us know which states you will be visiting so maybe we can wave at the planes as they fly overhead. I doubt that lower Alabama is on your playlist, so we will wait to see you again once you move back over the pond for good! It is just comforting to know that you will be back home for a bit.

I bet you and Lexi are excited and so are Grandpa and Grandma and the other relatives.

Bon Voyage!

You realize now she is going to demand singing cowboys... you may be in trouble. Or I guess not, since some version of Country Music Television will no doubt be available. ;)

Have a wonderful time!

You crack me up! I told my girlz,
"We're going to Disney and the beach" Our book would have been half a page long!!!!
(but I get it...Lex needs this right now. I forget that she is still learning how to be the world famous, traveling Lex!) A good lesson for families with newly adopted children..PLAN, prepare, practice, Repeat!
Have a great summer Momma!

What a great idea to make a book. I think travel can be confusing for newly adopted children. Years ago I read a touching story about an adopted child who was about Lexi's age. When their family got home from vacaction the little girl was excited because she "woke up in her same bed again."

What a great idea to do a book and end it with coming home together. If you ever need something to fill your time you should write a book for parents who adopt older children!

Have a great summer!

Enjoy your trip. I hope that your trip is wonderful for you both. And that...

Lexi has fun in America!

That is just what my mother would do! Create a scrapbook or start sewing something instead of packing. Bake cookies to take in the car. Decide to make homemade gifts for everyone the night before leaving... Why does inspiration always come when there are other things to do? I am the same way, though ;)

How is your trip home to the US going?

My daughter and the girls have been here a week.

I always read but rarely comment. I was just wondering if you and Lexi plan to move back to the US at some point?
