I have spent 9 hours of the last 24 (and 11.5 of the last 30) hours

oh
and don't forget you've just been thru a very significant, life-altering, dramatic, intense experience.

you are exhausted on every level perhaps w/o even realizing it.

praying for you right now.

I'm going to guess that you don't mean in a corner by yourself, with straw in your hair ;)

Hugs....

All you can do at this point is endure - and try to find the positives to cling to (like the fact she wants you to rock her and sing to her: that is huge).

It's the hardest thing ever. Rest when you can. Don't hold yourself to ridiculous standards, whether it is with housework or being the 'perfect' mother.

It's a marathon, not a sprint, so pace yourself.

Thinking of you both.

Awwwwww. I hope although y'all are tired, you are making that slow transformation from whirlwind, to, simply, family!

And it's comforting to her! That's so great. Isn't it a GOOD tired?

Those early days are tough, I do recall. It is worth it; it does get easier. Dandy was too jazzed up to truly sleep for months.

She is lucky to have a Mom that knows exactly what she needs. It took me three months to figure out that my daughter needed me to just be there to make her feel safe...baby bottle was also comforting, three years later and at 7 1/2 yrs old she still occassionally seeks her bottle especially when her world seems to get too big. You are doing great and Lexi is doing great, to let you rock her it's huge!

I used to think I was always going to have to wrestle John to get him to sleep. Now it seems like a faint memory. I promise it will pass and settle in to a normal routine, with less hours of rockign and singing.

I'll be totally relating to you soon! Maybe we can skype when I'm up at 3 am :).

Welcome home, Kate!

Between the sick laundry and the rocking and singing, you are really making a home for dear Lexi, a family of you both. I am so amazed and humbled every time I read your blog.
