still no news

It's that time of year. All schoolteachers know it. We're approaching the home stretch, but aren't in it yet. I still have SIX weeks of school left. Six. That seems ludicrous. Aren't we all supposed to get out on 1 June? Well, if the Russian government and I had our way, we would. Unfortunately, we don't get our way. We have six more weeks of school.

So, we plug on. We take lots of field trips. We struggle to master multiplication (just 0,1, 2, 5 and 10) and quotation marks. We write poems and graph the temperature. And all the time we're longing for summer.

Anyone out there have exciting summer plans? I know what I'm hoping for, but not what will actually happen...Still exploring independent options, but have no definite news there.

(Yeah, uh, really I just posted this so that you'd stick around. I really don't have anything to say. But, I will someday and didn't want to lose my audience...Thanks for humoring me.)

My only summer plans involve hoping for trip 2! That's IT! If trip 2 doesn't happen, it will be one mighty boring summer. Although I really LOVE working in my yard and going to the beach, I'm surely hoping to do those things with little ones underfoot!

Sometimes when I think I don't have anything to blog about, I surprise myself when I actually sit down and get started. And I do quickly lose enthusiasm for blogs where people don't post for weeks at a time... I usually drop them. So I try to post something at least every 2 or 3 days, if not every day. So... just keep blogging! And hopefully, this will be the summer of exciting blog news for all of us!

I'm trying to talk Dave into going to San Antonio to visit friends and go to Sea World.

And our schools here in Texas should all be out within 2-3 weeks. It's crazy. They are out before June even begins. And then they start in August. I think it's because August is the hottest month so they changed it a little. But I'm from PA and it just seems totally bizarre.

Happy 6 weeks!

I'm a teacher too,(1st grade)! I thought that I would be going to Russia AT ANY MINUTE last year at the end of the year and then when summer('06) came, I was totally depressed and didn't make any plans b/c we still had not gone to Russia yet. We didn't end up going until Oct. of '06, so I wish that I would have known that in advance, so that I could have enjoyed summer alittle more. We also have a 4 year old (adopted from Russia at 9 months, in '03)and I felt bad that our lives were on hold during that wait time.
This year we have our new little one and we are planning on taking a family vacation to the Bahamas and to Florida. Basically, we are going to relax relax relax.
Summer is typically VERY SLOW in Russia, but I still hope that you hear something soon!

I'm hoping my exciting summer will include a visit trip to Guatemala to meet my daughter and then a little later this summer a pick up trip! Keep blogging about your adoption process and life in Russia. I find it fascinating! I love to travel and would love to visit Russia, so I really enjoy the glimpses I get from you.

I have been in that home stretch many a time. It is exhausting because the kids are already mentally on their summer vacation. In NJ we get out the end of June, so you can imagine their thought process.

My summer will be spent at the baseball field. Last year I should have just pitched a tent...and I only had two kids playing. This year it will be three. They should give me my own parking space and reserved seating!

My summer plans are to bring Slugger home and do lots of fun things like camping, going to the zoo, and so forth. And, hopefully, reading about my friend's journeys to meet and bring home their children!
