more shopping

Yesterday, we went shopping for rain boots for Lexi. Because soon, winter will be over (stop laughing and ignore the snow falling outside my window) and then it will be mud season. They didn't have the purple ones or the pink fairy ones or the other pink ones in her size. I told her we could wait and keep shopping, but Lexi is still a buy-it-NOW kind of girl--a little afraid, I think, that later will never come. So we got these which I think are cute--and those girls in kindergarten BETTER say nice things about them. One plus I noted in the store--they're lined.

You can see we've established that they will be excellent for jumping in muddy puddles, just like Peppa--her favorite character thanks to a VERY generous friend who sent us two hours of Peppa shorts. I didn't realize there were two hours on there until we were both sick and I popped it in to give Mama a few minutes with her head down on the couch. Alison--you're a STAR!

When we got them home, I discovered THIS is the state of the lining. While the display-and-try-on pair was lined, Apparently the linings come separately. Guess I need some superglue...or just thick socks.

My little overstimulated, highly-distractable-in-kindergarten peanut doesn't need one more piece of clothing to put on before going outside, much less two. I don't even send her snowpants with her anymore, but instead let her play in the -whatever weather in jeans or leggings. Yes, it's that bad. Yes, I've made all sorts of common-sensical suggestions (turn off the lights, give her specific instructions rather than general--get your hat rather than get dressed, give her a place to keep all her things instead of in communal hat (ew), gloves, scarf boxes, I GAVE her a place to keep all her things, etc.)to no avail. So separate linings are NOT what we want.

We also bought some much needed bath toys. See these cute bekerchiefed ducks?

See how they float?

Oi. Lexi doesn't even want them in the tub. I can't say I blame her...

Somebody is making a huge fortune on rain boots in Russia this year. They are in style and people have spread "flood" rumors, so there have even been shortages in some neighborhoods!

I think the lining is separate on purpose so you can take it out and put it on the radiator while wearing your indoor shoes!

Love the boots

YAY--- PICS!!!!

In our case, a lining is helpful because the feet of a certain un-named child can get..... fragrant, but not in a good way. Then we toss the liners in the wash.

I love those boots, they are adorable. I understand the desire for the all glorious pinknpurple colors, but the green is fabulous.

Cute boots. Lexi always looks so stylish. And do you mean to say that there is fashion pressure from the girls in kindergarten?

Okay, so maybe I misjudged the linings. But...I'm still thinking socks. Lexi, of course, loves them.

Oh, I'm all about the green! I pointed them out straight away. Lexi dove for the purple (I'm happy with purple.) and then was settling for pink.

And, yes--there is EXTREME fashion pressure in kindergarten. I have a feeling these will be "boy boots". Unless I can find a cute green raincoat...

Elizabeth, I'm SURE it will flood. I haven't seen this much snow here in the last five years and I *have* seen floods. Have they been cleaning your sewers in preparation? They've been doing ours...and the bathroom reeks!

I think the green boots are adorable. Hopefully the K'ers will be kind.

The ducks are funny. Reminds me of something I'd design.

Yes; I was thinking the separate linings were stellar - since I've too often put my feet in still-wet boots, but I see your dilemma.

I prefer green, too.

I think the linings are separate for the same reason as Elizabeth, plus so they can be washed . . . they get stinky (trust me - been there).

Here's hoping they won't be "boy" boots- They're fabulous! Sending good vibes your way for the perfect matching green raincoat!

boys colors...OOhhhhh. Big one in my house right now. We wear green alot and I explain that is for our "last name" so they go for it..
But brown or blue, forgetaboutit!!

And Gross on storing the hats together..We put ours on hooks in their coat closet thing, and hats and gloves go in the pockets!!

Love the boots. Pink or purple princessy stuff is SO 2009. :-)

I'm not sure if they've done anything with the sewers. I don't live near any rivers or canals, so I'm hoping I'll escape? The snowbanks are still going to cause some huge puddles, though.

The boots are SO cute. Green is really in. But not forest green like I would pick. Lime green. It's one of Emily's 5 favorite colors. Our boots have the pull out lining too. Ryan has always stepped ON it instead of sliding his foot in it. Drives me crazy and destroys them. But I guess it makes him taller. :) We're looking at flooding here too. So much snow. It's melting slowly so that is good.

Well first of all, I LOVE the ducks! As for the boots - they are ADORABLE!

If you have trouble getting her to "get dressed" each morning, consider a chart hung by the door with pictures & words to indicate what "get dressed" includes: hat, scarf, boots, coat, ski pants, etc. And when she says she is ready, ask to her check the list of items one by one to be sure it's all there...this worked with both my boys - for various tasks that include mutiple items!

Love the boots, and too bad that the cute ducks are top heavy.

Happy Women's Day, by the way!

First off I have to say I've been such a bad friend and blogger. I never forgot about you just haven't had a chance to really read and comment. Hope that can change now.

Second, I love seeing you as Mama.

She's adorable jumping in the imaginary puddle. We've got half a bin of ducks that float that way. Never have understood why they can't float up right. But those are adorable.

Kate,

I know that I left a comment. Wonder if I didn't do the right thing to send it.

If I looked that cute in boots, I'd wear 'em every day.
