six words-edited

Annie challenged me to tell the story of me in six words.

This was prompted by the story that Hemingway (note from Kate re: Hemmingway: yuck) once bet ten dollars that he could sum up his life in six words. His words were, “For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn.”

I had a ball! It's like an assignment from acting school. I've got a bunch saved just for me. But the one you get is...

Clever girls don't share all secrets.

Now...who might like to play along?

(Here's where the editing comes in:)
I'm untagging because I was always picked last for kickball. (Spelling bees were another matter.) And, I'm untagging because I think it's more fun this way. Anyone who wants, please leave your six word story in the comments. It would be fun to see them all in one place.

It's a little addicting. I was just washing my hands and thought
1-2-3-4-5-6-yep--
A wish is an unaddressed prayer.

That's very clever! ;>

Annie tagged me too. I've got a couple, but can't decide. It's a lot of pressure. :)

Ah! This is too funny! I've been chatting with a group of girls about this very six worded story. Long story (not six words!) made short...a contest wanted fanfiction entries of over 15000 words in less than a ridiculous amount of time, stating that a story shorter than that just isn't done as well, and someone brought up the Hemingway story.

After reading your update...my first thought was:

I have lots of unadressed prayers.

Will have to think on this before I can post.

Love that last one. Love the first one, too. But - your life story? Wow....

Yes, ladies. It IS a lot of pressure, which is why I just finally DID it.

In it's original spot (don't even remember where) I couldn't help but think immediately of Tolstoy's last words. Even wondering if they could have inspired the original bet.

All for others, but mostly for myself.

Just ambiguous enough to have remembered and thought about my whole life long. (Note from Annie re: Tolstoy: amazing)

BTW, Kate. I was never picked for games either, so I know exactly what you mean. In fact, sometimes I've felt that little niggle of hurt when I wasn't tagged. HOWEVER, this is difficult enough that it almost REQUIRES a personal challenge. And, there are a few of my blogging friends, who clearly revel in words...and you are one of them. I didn't want you to escape.

Finally - I am always (well, often) embarrassed when I respond to a general invitation. I feel like all heads are turned - "She didn't mean YOU!"

But I DO mean YOU. Each and every one of you. ;>

(And you're right--I do love wordplay. I just ordered a great book about obscure but necessary words from cultures around the world.)

I'm still playing. How about...

A whole life summarized in six

(That makes me giggle.)

And, Rach, now there's no pressure. Share them all!

How about
"Chin up..eyes to the sky!"
(in sky I mean eyes on the Lord of course :0)

Wow, does that sound goofy or WHAT? Maybe I am not "getting" it! hehe

OK. I posted mine. This was a fun (although challenging) little project!

Said I'd never date a soldier...

I think that sums up a lot, if you get the joke. Amy :0)
