one step back...

... and two steps forward.

That's good progress in this dance of attachment, if you ask me. I know attachment takes oodles of time. But I think this visit will make things that much easier when we finally come home. I said I would come back, and I did. That gives me some credibility.

I spent a lot of time this trip trying to help Sasha feel empowered, letting her lead our play. And, by the last visit she was certainly feeling in control. ;> Nary a tear was shed on this trip. And, we heard, "I don't want to." More steps forward.

Got four and a half minutes? Tissues not required.

I know there were a million bubble pictures. But, it was hard to choose! And, it made the music fit better.

Paperwork is scheduled to be presented to the judge this week. Court before my birthday seems very likely...

I am not sure what happened with the shower, I thought I missed it at 9 am, then tried that night and messed up...Realized I missed it.
Anyway, I thought about you that whole day, and need to get the paypal info so you can get the gift I'd love for you to have!!
I hope those papers get in and court comes quickly!!!
congrats on a great 2nd trip!

Of course she's your baby. It'll be more fun when you get custody and can stop playing by everyone else's rules. I remember during our adoption process I constantly felt like we were playing "Simon Says."

SO much joy in those pictures! Wonderful!

No tissues needed? Are you kidding me?

You lied. Tissues definitely needed. I was okay up until the other little one popped up in the distance. Just breaks my heart. You've definitely inspired me to seriously consider adopting an older child in a few years.

Fingers crossed for a quick court date. She's just beautiful.

I am just crazy about her and I've never met her. I don't know how you stand being separated, Kate.

Praying for the process to be quick (well, from here on out, anyway) and that you're home with her soon.

Love the dimple in her cheek. I think I see some mischief in it. ;)

Glad you had a nice visit.

Tissues required actually - not just at how wonderfully happy the two of you look together, but at the little girl watching you play.

What a wonderful birthday present it would be ..... praying for you that you get good news on your court date this week.

Can't do paypal these days, but would love to send your girl a gift - can you email me an address?

Thanks for sharing...what a wonderful recap of the visit. And yes, I did tear up. I can't wait to see your post that says that she is legally YOUR baby (even though she is already YOUR baby in every other sense).

Oh, you were wrong - tissues were required! And, I cannot get enough of those bubble pictures - so precious. I'm so glad you went. Credibility goes a LONG way in facilitating attachment.

Bless her little heart - and yours!

Praying for a quick court appointment.

I too am a bit teary....I'd take that other girl in a moment - why is it so hard? It's not like we haven't been "approved" before!

And baby her all you like! As you know, I'm sure, she needs it. My family counselor told me that Nastya's recent obsession with babies...wanting one, talking of them non-stop, playing "babies", etc. is probably not because she lost her baby brother when the family dissolved, but because she, herself, wasn't "babied". So, 11 or not - I'm back to "babying her" up a storm. Your Sasha will love it, too.

Absolutely precious. There are no other words, in my opinion!

watched with 3 times with K & A.... opened up the first questions of "first mamas", which i didn't expect. "where is her mama?" was repeated over and over and over? and they were very concerned about the girl watching from the bushes. anna wants to be sasha's friend. kate is glad she likes to swing ;o)

Thank you for sharing her with us Kate. She looks amazing and beautiful. It took my breathe away to see the little girl in the distance. Big hugs xx

Oh that looks great, all of it! So many smiles and it's nice that you got to go outside and be active. Fingers crossed for court soon...

You are right, she was proud as could be playing with you on that slide in her dress. You be sure to carry her as often as you want, it will enhance her security with you and speed along bonding. She will probably "need" you to do a lot of things she can do for herself and a lot of people have different opinions on that. Genea's previous parents refused outright and quite frankly I think that was a factor that led to the disruption. So take that for what its worth, you know what they say about opinions lol.
I love your slideshows btw, they are awesome!

Oh, Kate - your baby is such a cute little pixie with those eyes, that smile and those wonderful dimples. May the court date come quickly for the best birthday gift ever.

My heart skipped a beat seeing the little one in the background. Reminds me of all the little faces we left behind at D's baby home.

I melted when I saw those dimples! How sweet! I hope all goes well and quickly!

Even though she is six, she wants to be held as she missed that the first six years I'm sure. I'm sure you two are home now doing lots of snuggling.

Those dimples!

You are beaming in all your pictures.

Kate..... These pictures are just the best! The pure joy in BOTH of your faces is priceless!!!! I too was told to "put her down", and that I would spoil the child, blah, blah.... My response was the same as yours..... Mama's know what is best =)

Can't wait for the next video and update.

Blessings to you and Lexi!!!

I love the shot that said a reminder that not all girls have a Momma to go home with - THESE are the children - their faces etched in mind and my heart - that I will forever remember!

I love the updates - Lexi is just a beautiful little girl and I'm so happy for both of you!

I was told not to pick up Anya too. That was the only time I got a little irritated with the caregivers.
