psych eval

I had my psych eval tonight--via telephone. The spychologist (I typed that wrong three times and finally decided it was meant to be) said, "Wow, Kate. You sound really, really prepared. You've got all your ducks in a row."

I'll refrain from further comment now because I'm just delighted that everything is FINISHED!

We just need my sw to send in her paperwork...Come ooooooon, sw!

Well, it's not like you've had to rush or anything to get all those ducks in a row, eh?

One step closer. Glad to hear you've stayed "sane" through this maddening process! :)

When I did my interview with the psychiatrist in Moscow during the "Eight Doctor Exam" she was the only one of the eight who really did anything...but for some reason known only to my subconscious, I started the interview in my really pathetic Russian - a PSYCHIATRIC INTERVIEW FOR GOSH SAKES! and about the most strenuous conversation I ever felt confident having in Russian was ordering food at a restaurant! The doctor enjoyed this so much that she told the translator to take a break and to my horror I was on my own. Russian words seemed to magically leap up from my subconcious - however, the glitch was that my CONSCIOUS mind had no idea if they were correct or completely wrong. As she never laughed out loud, I guess they were close enough....but those Russians have the serious expression down pat, so I still can't be sure. They passed me though! There is that! The funny part is that I've never again had the luck to have all that vocabulary come out where I could use it....just that strange combination of nerves and lack of sleep, I guess.....

Well, Kate, if you WEREN'T "really prepared" by now, I'd have to wonder if you were really seriously about this adoption thing, spychologically speaking! Glad to hear you're another step closer, anyway!

BTW, I don't know what your preferred sleeping attire is, but Target has a cute cotton knit nightshirt with elephants on roller skates on it. Seems like just the thing to curl up in when you're feeling cruddy. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Well, we all knew that already!

But happy to hear that the shrink came to the right conclusion.
