Yep. Directing Midsummer Night's Dream. Not entirely sure how I got talked in to this one but SO looking forward to having those lovely, lovely words come quickly to mind and rolling off my tongue. Today we had call-backs and my die-hard drama kids were giggling nonstop as I explained what was being said.
This will keep me busy and happy until the end of March. Surely by then there will be other happy news. Right?

How fun for you! I've played both Titania and Hermia in my day, and auditioned with Puck. 100% wonderful play.
Right!
Heehee, I've read Helena's "oh spite, oh hell" speech a few times for various classes, so much so that I've become positively fond of her. Poor thing is so adorably ineffectual . . .
I actually thought of Midsummer Night's Dream quite recently. I did a shoot last week for a young couple, and for part of it I set up a backdrop we call the enchanted forest, and lit them as if by moonlight. Whole thing looked very much like Oberon and Titania, or something; certainly the fellow had all the requisite brooding intensity, though his young lady was much gentler than I would envision Titania. Still, it was all I could do not to quip "ill met by moonlight!" as I was shooting, lol!
Wait! How is this possible? Another single mom adopting from Russia who directs children in Shakespeare???? I've met my soul mate! ( well, if you were a male I'd be all set..lol!) Anyway, I teach Shakespeare for a living and am currently directing Midsummer myself! I adopted from the Kemerovo region 4 years ago... great to meet you!
