25 June 2009

so, here we are.

As soon as everyone has sworn the oath of non-disclosure we can get started. Please leave your own oon-d in the comments with a suitably traumatic consequence for breaking it. (Katie, I suggest something with birds.)Seriously. Go comment.

My blog was in a recent Aeroflot in-flight magazine. It made me nervous. It got me some snarky comments.

So, I wrote to Aeroflot and asked them not to quote me again. I put that completely useless pseudo-copyright on the top. And I was still nervous. So, now we're private.

One reason for privacy--I moved yesterday. And new agency is saying to just.say.nothing. That makes me a little nervous...especially because the notary in-region was skeptical about my address (which actually has the wrong apartment listed...but it's the same on every piece of paper, so I'm not saying anything about that, either) and changed the wording to say "She says she live at xyz". Nice, huh?

But re-doing MORE paperwork at this point might make me weep. So, I'm taking their advice and saying nothing.

Here we are:

I'm in the yellow building, above the (overpriced) produkti. I use the door without a sign or awning.

It's a much nicer layout for d2b. But, it's NOISY with the boats on the canal and there was zero water pressure this morning. Also, there is no track for a shower curtain. It's a wet room...but I'm not really keen on that.

Still, it's light, has real hardwood floors and is just a much pleasanter place. Pix once I've unpacked (give me few days).

I saw on the Beet Goes on that your blog was quoted, and as an "In Process" adoptive mom, I knew it would be weird for you. Especially since they don't ask or let you know what they have printed!
AND, your new flat looks like it is in a wonderful area! (Cept for the noise)
We are in Florida, and will post our silliness soon!
(Give ya something to read!)
Is there a way to post a video with the noise from the boats??

Wow, you move a lot! How exciting that this is the place you will start your life with d2b. HUGE!

Thanks for including me in the invite! I swear my oath of secrecy regarding any blog content. Promise. As for a suitable punishment should I stray from said commitment - I think chronic sleep deprivation would do it :) Though that may be more of a punishment for Matt & Nicholas!

Hugs to you, friend.

That must have been weird to be quoted by Aeroflot! Kind of cool too - assuming the quote was favorable. I think in your position though, I'd go private too. We don't want ANYTHING jeopardizing the adoption!

I hope you are settling into your new place OK. I look forward to seeing pictures. I'm sure you'll have it homey and "kateish" in no time!

Don't worry, I'll keep things private! I'm just so excited for you!!!

Wow Kate! I am thrilled, happy, relieved, and enjoying hearing you talk like a mama-bear already!
Thrilled! I hope your precious peanut is safe and well and loved while you are apart just a little longer from each other. I will definately keep her (and you!) in my prayers.
I loved hearing "your moment", when you knew you were a pair. Not too long ago we were all sharing our moments with you... and now you've had your own! I couldn't wait and am so very very happy for you. She is a lucky little girl to have you!
As far as the address thing goes... hush! but we did the same thing. Of course we were back in the states, but it's just too much flipping paperwork, I know exactly how you feel about that part... like it would just push you over the edge. Breath, she is coming home. She's coming home to YOU!
Thank you for "letting me in" ~ I was going a bit batty on the outside there! As far as my punishment if I were to cause a leak... hmmm... suppose I could send you one of MY children, how'd that be? ;)
Much love to you and here's hoping for a speedy summer for you!
xo,
Heidi
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am here. I feel like I am in a clubhouse for cool kids. Not that I have any experience with this, of course.

I am slightly worried that I don't know what you meant when you said OON-D or whatever it was. I am hoping that I am not breaking whatever that means. Can't get attacked by birds again. The neighbors will talk.

My punishment? I will mulch all the houses in the nieghborhood (in case I can get you to come live here) in 95 degree heat.

Kate,
Oath blah blah blah sworn.
We are praying for you (plural) here in Austin!

Marshwiggles said...

So how are you feeling about leaving that little bedroom that was all ready for D2b? How are you doing at re-adjusting your mental images of her first night home, etc? Hope the new flat turns out to be the perfect place for you to start this new phase of your (plural) lives together! What kid wouldn't like to look out the window at boats!?

You've got my oath as well, although I'm not sure who I'd tell. I don't get much adult conversation these days...

I hearby swear to keep all of Kate's secrets safely within my own head, on threat of losing all access to chocolate for a year!
See? That's how much I love ya girl! Not so much a brownie crumb if I become a snitch! :)
Glad to hear about the move. Can't wait to see pictures! :)

Wow, new place, private blog, things are changin'!! That is creepy that Areoflot took stuff off your blog. How weird. That would have definitely made me go private too. How did you find out they had done that? You definitely did the right thing. It is just not worth the risk, yet everyone who adopts needs support and words of wisdom from others at times.
Thanks for inviting me. All your info is safe with me, or I will mop my floor every day (ha! - that's not happening so you definitely know you're safe:). Looking forward to seeing pics of the new place. The outside looks nice and the idea of seeing the boats go by sounds nice too.

Kate, I hereby do solemnly swear not to tell anyone anything about what you post on this blog. Except my wife. Because we pray for you.

My punishment for breaking it? Well, hmm. Nothing could be worse punishment than the mental anguish of letting down a friend.

Melissa said...

thanks for the invite. I am hoping she will understand you going away for a bit, being that she is older. I dont understand why her "diagnosis" would contradict your paperwork? Is that something new?

Wow, you are inflight reading. I wonder how many other blogs have been quoted in their papers.

Barb said...

My oon-d: I solemnly swear not to reveal anything Kate discloses on her blog (or sell her secrets to Aeroflot). If I break this oath, I will eat fish (maybe baltic herring?).

So totally creepy about the Aeroflot thing - what on earth did they quote?

Thanks for the invitation to follow along. I'm looking forward to more pics of the flat - you know I love seeing that canal . . . brings back memories of our first trip!!
Hugs,
Barb

Hey Kate!
Thanks for inviting me over..it would have been real nasty withdrawal if I could not find you!!
Ok, so if I don't behave :) I will lay in a bed of cockroaches and listen to nails on a chalkboard 24hrs a day..oh yes, with my mouth duct-taped shut! How is THAT for motivation :0)
Really, I think you are dong the right thing..keep it private till you get your little girl home. I just wish we could SEE her sweet face!!

Thanks for the invite and I promise not to say a word.

Too weird about Aeroflot. Creepy really.

wow, you have ALOT going on!

votemom said...

thx jojo!

Thanks for the invite. I do solumnly swear not to reveal any of Kate's information under penalty of having DD talk about Pokemon while DS talks about Thomas the Tank Engine. At the same time, 24/7, at top volume. That ought to do it!

Don't blame you for going private. Aeroflot - very creepy.

Popping in to document my oon-d...which, btw, I did not know either. So, thanks to whomever explained that one :)

I promise to keep all this excitement TOP SECRET :) And, I can't wait to see your new place with your newest family member!!!

Gigi said...

I promise to keep everything secret. My memory is so bad that you really don't have to worry about me divulging anything!

Melissa said...

I also promise to keep your info private. My punishment could be many things...from eating seafood to giving even one pint of blood (a miserable experience for me, for sure!).

I really am looking forward to keeping up with you through the remainder of this process!!

Anonymous said...

Glad you are liking the new place (despite the noisy boats) and I second the call for interior pics!!

And I shalt not spill the beans, lest my second child get up EVEN EARLIER than the one I already have.

:)

Holly said...

Yay! Thanks for allowing me to follow these final steps of your journey! We started at roughly the same time and I've always felt like we had that little connection. Kindred spirits and all. :)

Yes, yes, I absolutely promise to keep your confidence!
