Ohh, thanks for sharing! She is beautiful. As for her name, I had similar feelings about Iliya's name. Actually it wasn't one we were so familiar with (and at first I wasn't so crazy about) but after meeting him, we couldn't change it. It makes things a little more difficult, in terms of blending in (everyone asks a 3 year old for his name...and expects something like John or William) because I always feel compelled to (though don't always) explain why my child has a name that most people have never heard of.
But it works, and if he ever gets tired of it and wants to change it, then we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
I do love the name Alexandra!! And look at all that beautiful hair!!
Precious! Simply precious! And my heart goes out to her, she looks thin. She is one very lucky girl and you are equally as lucky, if not more so. Our children are such true gifts.
Love the photo of the two of you 'arting' as Hannah would say. You look very comfortable with one another.
Alexandra/Sasha is on my list of names for number 2 ;)
Hannah has 3 names: the one I gave her, the one her birth mother gave her and the baptismal name the nuns gave her. I never planned on having a child with 3 names, but they are part of her heritage. I don't think it is for me to take it away from her. Like you said, it's a personal choice. All of us do what feels right for our families and children. That's all we can do.
She's gorgeous - her eyelashes look so thick! Those tiny arms must make you want to enfold her in a protective hug.
I'm so happy for you right now Kate! I can't wait to see how Sasha blossoms in your care (her little smile suggests she is already starting to blossom).
Oh, those eyelashes, that thick hair, and most of all, that sweet little smile. Such a cute pixie. :-) There is already a comfort connection between you - it's non-verbal but visible in that great photo!
A true match and thank you for letting us see her so soon. I somehow managed to blow the picture up really big and got a good look at those beautiful dimples!! God Speed Katie, let court be soon xx
You can see a connection in this picture between the two of you ~ so sweet and loving! What a blessing for both of you! Come on paperwork, come on courts! Bring Sasha home to her mommy!!! By the way Kate, have fun with the dr's exam, specifically the breast exam. Nothing like standing in front of two women who are staring at your breasts from about 8 inches away whilest talking a language you can't understand! What the...? Oh well, just another thing on the list of "we'll do anything to bring her home" So happy for you and for her! xo, Heidi
Heidi - I just have to say, I can top your breast exam! Mine was done by the head of the clinic, who looked like Anton Chekov, greatcoat and all. Our translator, a young man, came in with me and sat in a chair facing the corner - for all the world like a child in trouble. Since I speak Russian (enough for THIS, anyway!) it was all the more embarrassing [because unnecessary] to have the translator there - but I guess he thought he was earning his pay by following me EVERYWHERE.
She is a doll! Can't wait for more pictures. Can you see her as often as you want before court? It wasn't an option for us since we live in the States but I just started thinking that would be really cool if that were an option for you! Hope you get her sooner rather than later!
Ohhh man! I missed it too. I forgot that, since you went private, my blog would not show updates to your blog anymore. I won't forget again! Hope to see the picture up again soon.

I'm glad you stopped by! This blog chronicles my experiences living in and adopting from Russia. It was a six-year journey that doubled the size of my family. I adopted my daughter, then age 6, from Moskovskaya Oblast. Now we're back in the USA and no longer posting from Russia.
March 2006: adoption officially begins! blah. blah. blah. March 2008: starting over with "new agency" May 2008: paperwork to US July 2008: paperwork in Russia September 2008: possiblity... November 2008: improbability. December 3, 2008: 1000 days! February 2009: MOE approval! May 2009: "the call" (which was actually an e-mail.) June 2009: trip one July 2009: a visit September 2009: court 1294 days after March 2006:together!
